The Eveleigh Carriage Works was built in the late 19th century, as a workshops for the manufacture and repair of locomotives and carriages. In 2005 the NSW State Government commisioned a new Performing Arts Centre to be built inside the original workshops.
Part of the original roof was removed for a new Large Performance Space building which projects through the original roof structure, as well as a Medium Performance Space, 3 Rehearsal Rooms, Entry Steelwork, Offices and Workshops. The original trusses from the removed section of roof were utilised in an Architectural Entry Signage Structure.
A total of 365 tonnes of steel was detailed. t
